I have always had a fascination for areas on the edge, in the in-between, for motifs off the beaten track, for the everyday and the incidental, for objects overlooked by the media and ­absent from the collective consciousness. In the present project Zwischenstadt, I was inspired by the New Topographic Movement, which, starting in the 1970s, took as its photographic subject the unspectacular and the everyday aspects of urban landscapes.
