This works stands in the tradition of Stephen Shores “Uncommon Places”. In 1972 Shore embarked on a road trip through the US, making "on the road" photographs of American and Canadian landscapes. In 2019 I embarked on a road trip throughout Japan and tried to photograph places that are very prominent in the landscape but don’t get a lot of attention. In reference to his work I call these series of photographs “Uncommon Places in Japan”.
